These two rubrics demonstrate my ability to assess a wide range of learning objectives from different programs of studies. The social studies rubric also allows for significant differentiation with student choice, as it assesses outcomes that are not medium specific. The social studies rubric also looks to use one assessment piece (performance task) to assess student learning of a large amount of specific learning outcomes from the program of studies. If I were able to continue my time at this practicum, I would be able to use the assessment to inform my planning and teaching for the rest of the social studies year and the rest of my career. Fortunately, I have a career to use assessment to inform my practice to become a more effective educator.
The drama rubric is different, in that it assesses outcomes from the drama program of studies, but it is an assessment piece used over a period of time. I am to assess each group as they begin their projects and develop their stories, and as they use their rehearsal time to complete their practice. I see this assessment all the way through their final performance, as this assessment is definitely an ongoing process that helps inform my instruction day to day with each of the different groups that I was monitoring during this project.
